1. What is NBR rubber?
Nitrile rubber, also known as NBR, Buna-N and Acrylonitrile Butadiene rubber, is a synthetic rubber produced from the monomers acrylonitrile (ACN) and butadiene. The Acrylonitrile content determines the properties of oil resistance, abrasion resistance, tensile strength, hardness, heat resistance, and gas permeability in direct proportion.
It was first developed in the 1930s as an oil-resistant alternative to natural rubber.
NBR rubber is widely used in the sealing industry, automotive and aviation industries (to produce lubricating oil pipes, hydraulic oil, seals, gaskets, etc.). In addition, NBR rubber is also used in the food, medical and nuclear industries to make protective gloves.
