Rubber-Edged Screen Mesh is a finished screening product made from woven stainless steel mesh in the required mesh count, with custom rubber edging applied around the sides. It is installed in vibrating screening systems to separate powders, granules, and other materials by particle size while ensuring a secure and properly sealed fit within the machine frame.
Unlike standard stainless steel mesh supplied in sheets or rolls, Rubber-Edged Screen Mesh is cut and finished according to the actual installation dimensions. Its clean white rubber edging is flexible, durable, and resistant to repeated impact, helping protect the mesh edges during continuous machine operation.
The product consists of two main components:
Depending on the equipment design, the mesh can be manufactured as a rectangular panel, a rolled screen section, or fitted with metal strips at the ends for tensioning and securing it to the screening machine.
The edging is manufactured from clean white rubber with good elasticity, flexibility, and impact resistance. It withstands repeated vibration and mechanical impact during machine operation while reducing direct friction between the stainless steel mesh and the metal frame.
The rubber edging performs several important functions:
When an appropriate rubber compound is selected, the product can be used in screening systems for food processing, agricultural products, and other applications requiring clean and hygienic operating conditions.
The product is available in various mesh counts, including 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 20, 30, 40, and 50 mesh, or according to specific operating requirements.
Mesh count refers to the number of openings per linear inch. A higher mesh count produces smaller openings and finer screening. The appropriate mesh count depends on the particle size that must be retained or allowed to pass through.
In addition to the mesh count, wire diameter directly affects the actual opening size, mesh strength, and open screening area. The screen should therefore be selected based on mesh count, wire diameter, material characteristics, and the machine’s operating conditions.
Rubber-Edged Screen Mesh can be manufactured from stainless steel 201 or stainless steel 304.
Stainless steel 201 offers relatively good strength and hardness. It is suitable for dry, mildly corrosive environments and general screening applications. It is a cost-effective option for systems that do not require high corrosion resistance.
Stainless steel 304 provides better resistance to oxidation and corrosion. It is suitable for humid environments, frequent cleaning, and contact with a wide range of materials. This grade is commonly used in food processing, agricultural products, light chemical applications, and industrial production lines.
Rubber-Edged Screen Mesh is used to screen and classify:
The product is suitable for vibrating screens, rectangular screening machines, gyratory sifters, and other material classification systems that use woven stainless steel mesh.
Rubber-Edged Screen Mesh can be manufactured according to an existing sample, technical drawing, or the actual dimensions of the equipment. Customers can select the mesh count, wire diameter, stainless steel 201 or 304, finished dimensions, and rubber edging specifications.
Integrating the stainless steel mesh with custom rubber edging helps ensure proper installation, effective edge sealing, and reliable performance in each screening system.
