ACRYLIC RUBBER

1. What is ACM Rubber?
ACM Rubber, or Acrylic Rubber, is a synthetic elastomer known for its resistance to heat, ozone, and oil. The chemical name for ACM rubber is ethylene acrylate rubber. This material is used in a variety of applications, such as high-performance gaskets and seals suitable for the industrial, transportation, and aerospace industries.

Chemical Structure of Acrylic Rubber

ACM rubber was originally developed in the 1960s, and since then its production and use have expanded. Its main application is in the automotive industry, where it is used for seals, hoses, gaskets and belts. ACM rubber’s exceptional resistance to heat, oil, fuel and ozone makes it an ideal material for these applications.

2. Mechanical properties of ACM rubber

- Heat resistance: ACM rubber has good heat resistance, with a typical operating temperature range of -10°C to 150°C
- Ozone resistance: ACM rubber has excellent resistance to ozone, oxygen and ultraviolet radiation (UV), however, due to its poor resistance to water and moisture, it is not commonly used for outdoor applications.
- Oil resistance: ACM rubber is resistant to mineral oils, synthetic lubricants and greases, as well as automotive fluids such as engine oils, transmission fluids, power steering fluids and many fuels.
- Tensile strength: ACM rubber typically has moderate tensile strength, depending on the specific formulation. Its tensile strength is typically in the range of 5 to 12 MPa.
- Elongation at break: The elongation at break of ACM rubber typically ranges from 100% to 300%, depending on the specific compound.

- Hardness: ACM rubber can be found in a variety of hardness levels, typically ranging from 40 to 90 Shore A.

- Compressibility: ACM rubber has moderate compressibility, and can return to its original shape after being compressed for a period of time.

In addition, ACM rubber has poor resistance to water, acids, and alkalis, limiting its application in some environments. In addition, Acrylic rubber is limited at low temperatures, making it unsuitable for applications involving extreme cold.
